The universe of Portuguese street art artist and illustrator Diogo Machado aka “Add Fuel to the Fire” is unlimited. His rich imagination is not restrained by everyday situations: fluo aliens, cute little monsters, octopus armed space travelers and devilish robots. Expect the unexpected!
Diogo Machado presents himself as an illustrator, graphic designer, toy maker and fervent video gamer. Diogo works on a broad range of different projects under the flag “Add Fuel to the Fire”: from book and editorial illustrations to brand communication, t-shirt prints and exhibitions. As a one-man strong creative army, Mr. Fuel does not limit himself to one technique or style, but explores vector art, photography and Photoshop to the fullest. Diogo also enjoys working with analogue techniques: pencils, paint and markers.
For Red Bull, Diogo produced 15 Azulejo tiles (Portuguese ceramic tiles), one for each pilot participating in the energy drink’s Air Race. His ingenious use of mirror images shows the personal background of each pilot, his interests and team colors. For “young individualist” fashion brand Cropp, Diogo designed a large collection of t-shirts, sweaters and accessories with his typical crazy style prints and patterns.
Diogo’s striking illustrations are peopled with cute characters and freaky figures in a very colorful and poppy style of execution. As he points out on his blog, his street art and vector illustrations are not to be taken too seriously – they are merely fun, thought-provoking images; sometimes funny, sometimes highly apocalyptic but always amazing.
