Azbeen - Wild Imagination Creates Unforgettable Alien Art

Aristotelis Falegos is an illustrator and web designer who lives in Athens, Greece. Falegos works under the creative nickname Azbeen and is specialized in vector graphics, weird character design and flash animations. To develop his surreal, digitally constructed illustration universe, Azbeen relies upon his wild imagination and his great sense of humor.

Aw… it’s so cute! You think. And then you look a little closer and you see something else… Maybe a little bit more gore and dark elements that you missed the first time you see it. We’re talking about the extraordinary work of uber-talented vector illustrator Aristotelis Falegos aka Azbeen.

Most of the vector artworks created by Azbeen remind you of cartoon characters in bright, happy and cheerful colors. Something along the likes of SpongeBob or Ben 10 at first sight, but with a heavy dose of alien and monsters in it. But at a second look, you quickly become that the Azbeen universe is a complete different cup of illustration tea. We guess that if surrealist painters Hieronymous Bosch or Salvador Dali would still be alive in this digital age, this is the kind of art they would come up with.

It was a surprise to find out that Falegos started out in ceramics in UK but later turned his attention of web design and illustration. Although within the creative range, it’s a stretch to say that ceramics and vector illustration courses through the same vein.

Azbeen is a lover of character design who dabbles with a little bit of oddity. Despite being categorized as a vector artist whose inclination falls under the ‘cute’ and ‘cuddly’ category, there’s often a little bit of dark underlining in there - has to have something to see with his alien and monster fascination, we guess.
