French illustration artist Garet was born in Germany, studied in Orléans and Indianapolis and exposed his illustrations in Brussels, Paris, Copenhagen and Montreal. Today he lives and works in Paris. Garet divides his time between his personal projects and his work for magazines, books, music labels and fashion brands.
Garet’s work has been published in Vice, IdN, Faces B, Under the Influence and The Art of Rebellion. Lately he gave the adidas Stan Smith a facelift by adorning the blue suede base of the iconic shoe with gold foil fleur-de-lis and a portrait of smiling' Stan Smith on the tongue. On his personal website, you can order books, screen prints and postcards.
Garet is strongly inspired by seventies and eighties drawing styles. His illustrations are simple but intense and shockingly truthful. He approaches his subjects and themes with sensitivity, irony and a definitive point-of-view. Each of his sketches or designs is an observation of life, love, work, violence and death. Sometimes shocking, sometimes tender or vulnerable but always real.
